Dietr. is native to Southeast Asia has been extensively traditional medicines food. aim this review was collect critically analyze scientific information bioactive compounds pharmacological activities Z. with focus on one main components, zerumbone (ZER). Various studies have reported analysis volatile constituents essential oils from montanum. Similarly, phenylbutanoids, flavonoids terpenes were also isolated rhizomes. These oils, extracts showed potent antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory antioxidant among others. Zerumbone studied widely for its anticancer, anti-inflammatory, other activities.
